Former Bachelorette, Emily Maynard Johnson could be described as a larger than life personality. She is best known for her appearances on the television series The Bachelor in 2011 and The Bachelorette in 2012. Emily lived a life chronicled by loss, pain and despair. Luckily, she bravely survived all her misfortunes.

Just a few years into her adventures in the dating game, she finally found love. Here’s everything you need to know about Emily Maynard Johnson and her husband.

Emily Maynard Johnson – who is she?

Emily Maynard Johnson isn’t just a bachelor alum although she fell into the limelight after her appearance on the reality series. Besides her on-screen persona, she is a wife, mother, author, event planner, businesswoman, and vlogger.

Johnson came into the world on February 1, 1986, in Morgantown, West Virginia. Before becoming known on television, she was a volunteer at Levine Children’s Hospital and the Hendrick Marrow program. She is also the author of I Said Yes: My Story of Broken Heart, Redemption, and True Love and has her own jewelry line.

Television career

Emily was first introduced to the dating game show in 2011 as a contestant on season 15 of The Bachelor and also starred on The Bachelorette. She was engaged twice on the shows, but neither relationship lasted longer than a commercial break.

In her first stint on the reality series, she won the final and got engaged to twice-bachelor Brad Womack in 2011, but they separated soon after. She got engaged for the second time in 2012, this time to Bachelorette season winner Jef Holm, a skateboarding entrepreneur. It was not to last either because it ended a few months later.

Relationships

Emily Maynard Johnson’s love story is a rather interesting one. She’s been in three relationships where she never walked down the aisle despite being committed in all of them. She would be long married and might not be known to us as The Bachelorette because there wouldn’t be a need to appear on the show if an unfortunate accident hadn’t kept her fiancé from dating. The reality TV personality was handed over to Ricky Hendrick, a NASCAR racer who died on October 24, 2004 in a plane crash six months after getting engaged.

Shortly after her death, Emily discovered she was pregnant with their daughter. She had her daughter on June 29, 2005, and named her Josephine Riddick “Ricki” Hendrick, in honor of her late father.

In The Bachelor (season 15), she got engaged to Womack and then to Holm in The Bachelorette (season 8).

Several years into her Bachelor adventures, Emily has finally found a place to call home, a heart to call hers in the most fitting place we’d like to add – the church and her hometown as well. Sometimes what we’re looking for so far away can be right under our noses. She found the real solution after two failed relationships and at one point thought she would be a single mom forever.

She met Tyler Johnson, her husband before beingThe Bachelorette. As she revealed in her book, Tyler suggested dating if she wasn’t engaged after the show, but she was engaged twice. When all the fighting has died down. It was Emily who ended up asking him out. Picked it up where they left off in a really smooth sail. Finally, Emily Maynard tied the knot with Tyler on June 7, 2014, for the first time in her life, and since then they have lived happily together.
