Back in the 1980s, the Bogdanoff brothers were hot commodities in France are known for a series of sci-fi shows they starred in. The twins are French television presenters, producers and composers of science essays. They also hold doctorates and have repeatedly claimed to have been in communication with extraterrestrial life. The brothers had their fair share of controversy, and most notable of all was the Bogdanov Affair, a series of papers on theoretical physics that were frowned upon by various scientists.

The Bogdanoff brothers are French twin brothers who came to media attention for their roles as producers, presenters and science essayists in the 1970s. The twins were born on August 29, 1949 in Saint-Lary, Gers, in France, Yuri Mikhailovich Osten-Sacken-Bogdanoff and Maria Dolores Franzyska Kolowrat-Krakwská.

The father of the Bogdanoff brothers, Yuri was born in 1928 and died in 2012, Yuri was a Russian painter originally from Tatar and descended from a royal line. The mother of the twins, Maria lived from 1926 to 1982. She was the daughter of Countess Bertha Kolowrat-Krakwská. The brothers were raised in France and lived in a castle with their maternal grandmother, Bertha Kolowrat-Krakwská.

• Marriage into a noble family

Bertha Kolowrat-Krakwská comes from a noble Czech family from Bohemia called the Kolowrat family. She was married to a princely member of a noble family from the House of Colloredo-Mannsfeld, an Austrian family of Italian descent.

She and American lyrics tenor Roland Hayes had an affair which led to Bertha becoming pregnant for Hayes. Her affair with the composer of lyrics broke up her marriage, tarnished her reputation in society, as well as the loss of her rights to her homes in Prague and Berlin, in addition to the abandonment of her initial four children.

After she and her husband divorced, she gave birth to the mother (Maria) of the twins. Hayes and Bertha tried to settle their relationship, but it failed after Hayes tried to adopt their biracial daughter, which Bertha refused. Hayes then returned to the United States, while Bertha settled in the Château de Saint-Lary with her daughter.

The twin’s grandmother spoke several languages. She even served as an interpreter for the Nazis during World War II. As the boys taught, they also learned to speak several languages, including French, English, German, and Russian.

Bogdanoff Brothers Academic Achievements

The Bogdanoff brothers each have a doctorate degree from the University of Burgundy. Grichka obtained his doctorate in mathematics from the University of Burgundy in 1999, while Igor obtained his doctorate in theoretical physics in 2002, from the same university.

The Bogdanov case

They wrote a series of theoretical physics papers which was then known as the Bogdanov Affair. Their papers came under heavy criticism from scientists who described it as a superficial and meaningless hodgepodge.

Controversies

It’s been quite a while since we heard about the Bogdanoff brothers, in 2018 they were accused of having defrauded a man named Cyrille for an amount of 800,000 euros, under the false pretext of investing this money in scientific and artistic work. The case is currently under investigation.

Once, Julie Jordan, Igor’s ex-girlfriend, files a complaint against him with the police for inserting his house into her home. Igor was later fined 1,500 euros for the charges against him.

Trinh Xuan, Thuan, a Vietnamese-American astrophysicist and professor of astronomy at the University of Virginia, accused the brothers or plagiarized his work from his 1988 book The Secret Melody: And Man Created the Universe When the Brothers Made published a French bestseller titled Dieu et la science, which translates to God and Science. The Bogdanoff brothers, however, claimed that the inspiration for writing the book came from an interview with Jean Guitton, a French Catholic philosopher and theologian.

The Bogdanoff brothers have repeatedly claimed occasions when they came into contact with aliens and angels. They claimed to have the psychic ability to communicate with extraterrestrial beings. Some of their followers consider them angels due to their unorthodox facial appearance.

Their personal life

Igor is married to Amelia de Bourbon de Parme. He has six children, only two of whom are from his union with his current wife. Igor was previously married to Countess Ludmillad’Oultremont, with whom he had three of his children. His first child was born from a relationship with Genevieve Grad.

Although Igor is married with six children, his twin brother Grichka has no children and is not married.
