BIOGRAPHY
Of Arab origin, F. Murray Abraham is primarily a stage actor. In the 1970s, he made numerous appearances on screen: in the cinema ( The President’s Men , The Big Fix ), on television ( Kojak ) and in advertising spots (for Fruit of the Loom ). His first notable role remains that of the undercover agent in Scarface (1983) by Brian De Palma . Two years later, he won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as composer Salieri in Amadeus (1984).

Specializing in deeply unsympathetic characters, he is the grand inquisitor in The Name of the Rose (1986), the deceitful mayor of New York in The Bonfire of the Vanities (1991), – a film that he later disavowed and in whose credits he will refuse to appear -, the homeless hunter from Let the Hunt Begin! (1994), the Al Capone of Dillinger and Capone (1995) and the Machiavellian Professor Cyrus Kriticos of 13 Ghosts (2002).

When he positions himself on the side of “Good”, he is the cellmate of Tom Selleck in Crime of Innocence (1989) or Dr. Gates, to whom we owe the creatures of Mimic (1997). Also having a few comedies to his credit, including Cursed Aphrodite (1995) and The Muppets in Space (1999), in 2004 he joined the prestigious cast of Pont du Roi Saint-Louis .
