BIOGRAPHY
After an eventful adolescence, Francis Renaud went to Paris to become an actor. A series of roles – in The Surprise Guest (1989), The Old Woman Who Walked in the Sea (1991) in particular – and odd jobs, he landed his first major role in 1994, that of the pickpocket Fifi, in Pigalle by Karim Dridi . From then on, he shot for such talented filmmakers as Catherine Breillat ( Parfait amour! ) and Nicolas Boukhrief ( Le Plaisir et ses petits hassles ), and directed his first feature film, the drama Marie, Nonna, la virgin et moi , in 2000 His
meeting with Olivier Marchal on the set of the series Police district will prove decisive for the rest of his career. The actor-filmmaker suggested that he appear in the credits of his thriller Gangsters in 2001. Remarkable as a corrupt cop, Francis Renaud will again film under the direction of Olivier Marchal in his two following films – 36 Quai des Orfèvres (2004) and MR 73 (2007) – and will have the opportunity to star in Scorpion (id.), a drama by Julien Seri set against a free-fight backdrop .
Accustomed to the characters of thug ( La Mentale ) and policeman ( Les Rivières pourpres 2 – les Anges de l’Apocalypse ), this “mouth” of French cinema also finds his finest roles on the small screen, in the TV films Le Cri (2005). ) and L’Affaire Villemin (2006), where he plays the father of little Grégory. Francis Renaud continued with two popular comedies alongside Kad Merad , RTT (2009) and Monsieur Papa (2010), before reuniting with his friend Olivier Marchal for whom he played a member of the Lyonnais gang .
