BIOGRAPHY
Before acting, Franz Rogowski worked in the dance world. He is a dancer and choreographer in various productions, notably at the Schaubühne, the famous theater in Berlin, at the Zagreb Theater and at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg.

It was in 2011 that he made his acting debut in Frontalwatte by Jakob Lass , with which he would make two other films: the multi-award winning Love Steaks (2013) – which earned him the best actor prize at the Munich Filmfest – and Tiger Girl (2017). In parallel with his career on the big screen, he continued his theatrical work and joined the Münchner Kammerspiele from 2015 to 2017.

We then notice it in Victoria (2015), which relates in a single sequence shot the nighttime trip of a group of partygoers which degenerates. Sebastian Schipper ‘s feature film won the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival as well as 6 Lolas (the German equivalent of the Oscars and Césars). He notably tours under the direction of Michael Haneke ( Happy End ) and Terrence Malick ( A Hidden Life ) and in 2018 won the Lola for best actor for the romance A Waltz in the Alleys .

Having become a leading actor in German cinema, he collaborated twice with Christian Petzold , considered one of the leaders of the “new wave” of German cinema, in Transit (2018) and Ondine (2020), where he gave the response to Paula Beer . In 2022, he starred in Great Freedom , where he plays a prisoner incarcerated in post-war Germany because of his sexual orientation.
