George Herbert Walker Bush was born on June 12, 1924 in Prescott Bush and Dorothy Walker Bush in Milton, Massachusetts.

The family moved to Greenwich, Connecticut where he attended Greenwich Country Day School. He then attended Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, where he demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities both in the classroom and on the sports field.

His plans to go to college were cut short when the United States entered World War II in December 1941.
