Glen Powell Biography
He was born Glen Thomas Powell Jr on October 21, 1988 in Austin, Texas America as the only son of Glen Snr. and Cyndy Powell. His siblings are; older sister Lauren Powell and Leslie Powell, a younger sister. Glen was educated at Westwood High School in northwest Austin.
Glen Powell was later admitted to the university in 2007, where he majored in radio, television and cinematography at the University of Texas at Austin.
His movies and TV shows
His foray into the entertainment industry began at a young age. He was a member of the award-winning Broadway theater production company Broadway Texas Players which ran from 1999-2003.
As a talented young lad, his talent paved the way for him to team up with the likes of the famous Antonio Banderas and Sylvester Stallone, with whom he starred in an American spy adventure film called Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, though he was in the Having a minor role in his debut film, he opened the doors for further performances, including the role of Paper Boy Travis in The Wendell Baker Story (2005).
He later starred in another film titled Fast Food Nation (2006) where he portrayed the character of Steve. While capturing it in films, he also did so well in TV series starring in the only episode of series like ‘A Endurance (2003), Jack & Bobby (2004), Heading West (2005). In 2007, while he was just enrolled in university, he landed another screenplay playing the role of Preston Whittington in a biographical drama film called The Great Debates , a popular film directed by the famous Denzel Washington who also starred in the film.
The actor’s screen presence wasn’t even in doubt, though he combines his college education with acting. He moved to Los Angeles after his college education, a decision that turned out to be the best for the young actor as it gave him the spotlight and the attention he needed. Shortly after moving he was featured in series like Scream Queens which eventually became his breakthrough performance.
To date he has acted in well over 20 films and 10 television series with speaking roles. Notable movies he has been in include The Consumables 3 (2014), Sex Ed (2014), Misconduct (2016), Everybody Wants Some !! (2016), Setting It Up (2018).
He has received several nominations and awards for his wonderful contributions to the film industry. His role as John Glenn in Hidden Figures earned him the Palm Springs International Film Festival Ensemble Performance Award and the Screen Actors Guild Award (SAG) for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture.
