Gucci Mane is an American rapper and the founder and CEO of 1017 records. He is popular for helping pioneer hip-hop trap music alongside rappers like Young Jeezy and T.I.

Gucci Mane – Biography

He was born on February 12, 1980, as RadricDelantic Davis to Ralph Everett Dudley, a former American serviceman and worker, and Vicky Jean Davis, a social worker and teacher. His family has a strong military background as his paternal and maternal grandfathers served in the military, as did his father.

Murder charges, imprisonment

In 2005, just before the release of his debut album Trap House Davis was arrested and charged in court with the murder of Clark, an upcoming rapper from Macon, Georgia.

On the day Clark was killed, Mane was reportedly visiting a friend in Decatur when four men – all dressed in black – burst into her apartment and attacked him.

Of course, gunfire followed, the men fled, but Clark’s body was later found at a nearby middle school.

In court, Mane admitted shooting his assailants but maintained he acted in self-defence. In 2006, due to insufficient evidence, the court dropped the murder charge against him. Mane was charged with assaulting a nightclub promoter and sentenced to six months in prison, but was released in January 2006, three months later. Mane clearly breached his parole conditions and was arrested in 2008 for violation.

He was sentenced to one year in prison but released six months later. Again in 2009, was sentenced to 12 months in prison for violation of probation.
