BIOGRAPHY
Born in Oxford to an English mother and a South African father, Gugu Mbatha-Raw trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art from 2001 to 2004. Her first name means “Our pride” in Xhosa, an African dialect southern. In 2005, she stood out at the Royal Exchange Theater for her interpretation of Juliet in the play “Romeo and Juliet”, alongside a certain Andrew Garfield . Continuing to play on stage, the young woman also faces Jude Law in “Hamlet” at Wyndham’s Theater.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw started on television with small roles in the series Bad Girls , [MI-5] , Doctor Who and Miss Marple . In 2010, she was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Best Actress for her role as a spy in JJ Abrams ‘ canceled series Undercovers . The actress also plays Kiefer Sutherland ‘s social worker in Touch (2012). At the same time, Gugu Mbatha-Raw participates in Andy and Lana Wachowski ‘s new sci-fi film , Jupiter Ascending . In 2015, the British actress is strongly expected to join the cast of Rian Johnson ‘s Star Wars VIII in a role about which nothing is yet known.
