Heidi Cruz was born Heidi Suzanne Nelson in San Luis Obispo, California, USA on August 7, 1972 to her parents Peter Christian Nelson, a dentist, and Suzanne Jane, a dental assistant. She had her childhood experiences in various countries, including Nigeria, Kenya and Asia, as a result of uniting her parents’ missionary work with the Seventh-day Adventist Protestant denomination. Heidi Cruz has a brother named Scott Nelson and is a graduate of Valley View Adventist Academy in Arroyo Grande, California before completing her undergraduate education in 1990 at Monterey Bay Academy in La Selva Beach, California.
