Hilary Duff was born Hilary Erhard Duff to two children of Susan Colleen (née Cobb) and Robert Erhard Duff on September 28, 1987 in Houston, Texas. Her mother was a homemaker while her father was a businessman who, through a partnership, owned a chain of grocery stores in San Antonio and Houston.
As a child, Duff and her older sister, Haylie, enrolled in acting, ballet, and singing classes, where they distinguished themselves for their talent and earned local recognition. They were notably selected to star in a local theater production of The Nutcracker, where their performance brought further fame and encouraged them to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
In 1993 the Duff Girls; Hilary, her sister and mother moved to California when they started auditioning for a number of roles but were only able to land television commercials. In 2010, Hilary Duff married the now-retired Canadian professional ice hockey player Mike Comrie, and they have a three-year relationship that began sometime in the summer of 2007. The couple first announced their engagement in February this year before taking their vows on August 14, 2010 in Santa Barbara, California. Mike and Hillary have a son together named Luca Cruz Comrie who was born on March 20, 2012.
After four years of marriage, Duff split from her husband, who filed for divorce from Comrie in 2015, citing irreconcilable differences. It’s not clear what exactly happened between the couple that led to their breakup and divorce, but Duff has claimed that the two have remained good friends to this day and she still has a soft spot for him.
