Chris Jansing was born in Fairport Harbor, Ohio.USA on January 30, 1957. Her maiden name is Christine Ann Kapostasy. Chris was born into a large family of Killy and Joseph Kapostasy who had 12 children in total. She is of Hungarian-Slovak descent.
Chris Jansing developed a passion for journalism while still a child. So, after graduating from high school in 1974, she enrolled at Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio, to major in political science and broadcast journalism with a major in political science. However, Chris later switched to focusing on broadcast journalism. She made the life-changing decision after discovering her true talents while working at Otterbein College’s radio house.
Chris Jansing began her career as a broadcast journalism intern at a Columbus Cable News Network in Ohio. She then worked briefly for WIPS Radio Station in Ticonderoga, New York City.
After seventeen long years, she left WNYT for NBC News in June 1998. While with WNYT, she was honored with an Emmy Award for her extraordinarily brave reporting on the Olympic Park bombings during the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
Other notable events that Chris Jansing has witnessed during her career include the beatification ceremony of Pope John Paul II on May 1, 2001 in Rome, the Twin Tower terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 in the United States, August 29, 2005, the New Orleans Hurricane Katrina disaster, May 19, 2018, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, among others, covered royal wedding in London.
She has also taken part in a number of notable television series/programs including The Ethical Edge (2005-2008), Access Hollywood (1996-present) and MSNBC Live (1996-present).
Chris Jansing has worked on the NBC network for over twenty years, hosting and co-hosting several shows and programs including Jansing and Company , The Today Show , and NBC Nightly News . From 2008 to 2010 she worked for NBC in Los Angeles for two years in the field journalism department.

Chris Jansing was previously married to American chemist and scientist Robert Jansing. Chris and Robert tied the knot in 1982. However, they later divorced at an unknown date and for unknown reasons. Both during and after their married life, Chris and Robert kept their affairs private. Neither of them have ever opened up about both their relationship and their breakup. The former couple had no children together.
Meanwhile, Chris just replaced her maiden name, Kapostatsy, with her married name, Jansing, in 1998. That was after over fifteen years of marriage. Despite divorcing Robert Jansing, she has continued to use Jansing as her official surname, citing ease of pronunciation as the reason. Since then she has also remained single, without any romantic connection to any other man.
