Biography (Age)

Jeff was born in Atlanta, Georgia and is the first child of IBM executive Jimmy Abstance Foxworthy Carole Linda Camp Foxworthy. He comes of English descent and his roots extend to the countryside of Essex. Jeff Foxworthy was raised in a typical Baptist home and remembers accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior when he was seven years old, but his mother advised him to let it grow and fully understand the meaning of what he wanted to do. But after persuading Jeff and visiting his pastor, Jeff was accompanied by his mother to church. Although he was a complaining Christian, Jeff struggled to live by what he saw as the “strict rules” often imposed by the church.

Jeff attended Hapeville High School and after graduation he enrolled at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. After graduating from Georgia Tech, he worked for five years alongside his father at IBM in the mainframe computer maintenance unit.

Dating back to his high school days, Jeff always had a reputation for being a humorous Southerner and was often the joker in his class. According to Jeff, it was his colleagues at IBM who urged him to pursue his dream of becoming a stand-up comedian by winning the Great Southeastern Laugh-off at the Punchline Comedy club in Atlanta in 1984.

This victory was the springboard his career needed. He released his first and probably best comedy album in 1993’s You Could Be A Rednek. It was the later releases in 1995 that earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Spoken Comedy Album. Although his television debut came when he appeared on The Jeff Foxworthy Show in 1995, it was a sitcom that reflected his comedic persona.

His career waned somewhat in the late 90s, but he made a resurgence in the early 2000s following his Blue Comedy Tour. The Blue Comedy Tour was a photo of the comedy troupe he had formed alongside fellow comedians Bill Engvall, Ron White and Larry the Cable Guy. They traveled from Nebraska to Washington DC over a period of six years.

Foxworthy is the author of books including You Might Be a Redneck If… In 1989, his autobiography No Shirt, No Shoes, and No Problem which was released in 1996. He is known to be an avid hunter, a a passion he developed as a teenager, hunting with his father on his farm property in Georgia.

Jeff was the host of the popular quiz show Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader which has been running since 2007. During his career, Foxworthy has released six comedy albums and he is recognized as the most sold in comedy recordings. And for further emphasis, Foxworthy received the award for Best Spoken Comedy Album in 2001 at the 43rd ^Annual Grammy.

^{Jeff Foxworthy met his future wife Pamela Greggin} in his hometown of Atlanta at Punchline and the couple tied the knot on September 18th, 1985. Jeff and Pamela were blessed with two children, both daughters; Jordan Foxworthy and Julianna Foxworthy. Foxworthy has a sister Jennifer Foxworthy and a brother Jay Foxworthy.

Her paternal grandfather is James Marvin Camp. In 2010, the Foxworthy family was thrown into mourning when Jeff lost his first daughter, Jordan, who had just been admitted to college. Jeff came to let us know how much the loss of his daughter had left him, he had to rely on the comfort of God to come out of the mourning.
