BIOGRAPHY
Jena Malone took her first steps in the cinema at the age of 12. Her young age did not prevent her from delivering a remarkable performance in the film Bastard out of Carolina (which addresses the tragic theme of incest) and from being rewarded with a Young Artist Award. Subsequently slaloming between series and TV films, the young actress quickly distinguished herself alongside personalities from the seventh art. She thus shared the cast of the science fiction film Contact with Jodie Foster (whose child character she played), in front of Robert Zemeckis ‘ camera in 1997. The following year, she played the teenage girls of a blended family alongside Julia Roberts and Ed Harris , and under the direction of Chris Columbus , before participating in the comedy-drama For the Love of the Game by Sam Raimi and with Kevin Costner in 2000.

Continuing to evolve from one small role to another, the young Jena Malone is slowly but surely continuing her career in the cinema. She thus found actress Jodie Foster in 2001 in the drama The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys , which was not released in French cinemas. She also appears in films such as Donnie Darko (2002), House on the Ocean (id.) alongside Kevin Kline and Kristin Scott Thomas , and American Girl (2002) which she co-produced. At the same time, Jena Malone continues to shine on television, as well as on the stage of Broadway.

On the big screen, the young actress multiplies her experiences in diverse and varied genres. And if she still sticks most of the time to secondary roles ( The United States of Leland , 2003, Return to Cold Mountain , 2004), she occasionally rises to the top of the bill in slightly more modest productions, and shares notably that of the teenage comedy Saved! with Macaulay Culkin .

This is how Jena Malone approached the years that followed, collecting supporting roles in increasingly important films, which for her were so many doors to the front of the stage. We can see her in the romance Pride and Prejudice (2006), the drama The Ballad of Jack and Rose (id.), the exotic Into the Wild (2008). Roles which allow the young actress to access the headliner of the horror film The Ruins and to join the devastating quintet of the frenetic Sucker Punch (2011) under the baton of Zack Snyder three years later.

After filming the dramas For Ellen and In our Nature , in 2012, Malone obtained a recurring role in the series Hatfields & McCoys . In 2013, she joined the blockbuster franchise The Hunger Games, for the second part: Hunger Games – Catching Fire . She plays the character of Johanna Mason, victorious in the 68th Hunger Games, and selected in her District 7 to participate in the Atonement Games against Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence ) and Peeta ( Josh Hutcherson ).

The actress then continued with the thriller The Wait , screened at the Deauville American Film Festival in 2013. In 2014, she starred in another thriller, Vice Caché with Joaquin Phoenix and Josh Brolin and in the drama Time Out of Mind alongside Richard Gere . The actor plays a New Yorker forced to join a homeless shelter after a financial collapse, which could bring him closer to his daughter, played by Jena Malone. The latter finds, also in 2014, the character of Johanna Mason for the penultimate chapter of the Hunger Games saga – The Rebellion: Part 1 . Role that she reprises for the final episode Hunger Games – The Revolt: Part 2 (2015).
