Jennifer Anne Garner was born in Houston, Texas, in the United States of America to the Garner family on April 17, 1972. Her father, Bill Garner, was a chemical engineer and worked at Union Carbide while her mother, Patricia Anne, was a handyman and later an English teacher at a local college near her home. She grew up with two other siblings – an older sister, Melissa Lynn Garner, and a younger sister, Susannah Kay Garner.
When Jennifer was three years old, her family moved from Houston, Texas to Charleston, West Virginia, where they settled. The Garners are dedicated Christians who attended a local United Methodist Church and were active participants in Vacation Bible School. Jennifer recalls that growing up, she and her sisters weren’t allowed to paint their nails, put on makeup, dye their hair, or pierce body parts. Getting a tattoo was taboo in the Garner household and none of the Garner girls have one today.
