BIOGRAPHY
Determined to become an actress at an early age, Jessica Alba was twelve years old when she began her first acting lessons. In 1993, she landed a small role in Camp Nowhere, a performance that took only two weeks to shoot. But fate decided otherwise: following the withdrawal of one of the main actresses, the director called on her to replace her, seduced, it is said, by the brilliance… of her hair!
After this unorthodox debut in the spotlight, Jessica Alba’s career continues slowly but surely. A few commercials and popular television series (Flipper, Beverly Hills) punctuate a steady and smooth journey. In 1999, she found her first major roles in the comedies P.U.N.K.S. and College Attitude, alongside Drew Barrymore.
But it was in 2000 that Jessica Alba became famous as the star of the series Dark Angel. With her career boosted on the big screen, she played an up-and-coming hip-hop star in Honey (2004) and turned Bruce Willis’ head as a sensual stripper in Robert Rodriguez’s wacky and very dark Sin City (2005). Her perfect appearance no longer goes unnoticed and allows her to put on the tight-fitting jumpsuit of the Invisible Woman in Fantastic Four (2005) and to evolve in the deep waters of the adventure film Bleu d’enfer.
After becoming invisible again for Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer (2006), Jessica Alba made a name for herself in the credits of the comedy Charlie, the girls say thank you. In 2008, she made her film debut with the fantasy film The Eye, directed by French directors David Moreau and Xavier Palud. In this remake of brothers Danny and Oxide Pang’s The Eye, she plays a young blind woman undergoing an eye transplant and experiencing strange visions. Later that year, she returned to a lighter register by receiving funny lessons from a Love Guru played by Mike Myers.
After appearing in Garry Marshall’s ensemble film Valentine’s Day, the actress joined the cast of Michael Winterbottom’s The Killer Inside Me, in which she was violently massacred by the dreaded serial killer played by Casey Affleck. She then returned to acting, starring in My Father-in-Law and Us, flirting with a Ben Stiller who resisted her despite his fatal beauty. Later, the beauty reprised her role as Sartana, a woman of action in Machete Kills (2013), and then reprised Nancy Callahan in Sin City: I Killed for Her (2014).
