Jim Rash was born James Michael Rash on the 15 th of July 1971 in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. He began his education at the Charlotte Latin School. After graduating, he wanted to go to Chapel Hill, but he didn’t get the required grades, so he spent a postgraduate year at Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Rash later transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He became a member of Pi Kappa Alpha while he was there.

Rash lives in Palm Springs, California, with his dog Cowboy. He stars in an impromptu one-man show called Ein. The hour-long show is based on audience suggestions; it is directed and created by Deanna Oliver and takes place at the Groundlings Theater in Los Angeles, California. In addition to being an actor, Rash is also an avid traveler. He records each of his trips on his social media platforms.
