Joe Pantoliano debuted on stage in 1972 playing Billy Bibbit in the play One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest , before establishing himself in Hollywood in 1976 and appearing in a few television series such as Rob Reiner ‘s Free Country . However, it was on the stages of Los Angeles that the actor began to make a name for himself, with award-winning roles in Orphans and Italian American Reconciliation , before debuting on the big screen in 1980 in Le Temps du rock’n’roll , the feature film debut of Taylor Hackford . Friend of the debutant Tom Cruise in Risky Business in 1983, Joe Pantoliano continued with The Goonies in 1985 before embarking on La Bamba two years later and moving on to Steven Spielberg ‘s Empire of the Sun. After Martin Brest ‘s Midnight Run in 1988, the actor experienced a slight slump in the early 1990s, before returning in 1993 with his role as assistant to Tommy Lee Jones in the search for the Fugitive . It is now in popular action cinema that the actor is establishing himself. After an uncredited role in Congo , he appeared as a commissioner in Michael Bay ‘s Bad Boys (1995), before playing a small-time manipulated hit in Bound , the first film by Andy and Larry Wachowski . New collaboration with Tommy Lee Jones, this time following Wesley Snipes for US Marshals (1998) before reuniting with the Wachowski brothers for their mega-success Matrix . A manipulative friend of Guy Pearce in the independent Memento , a surprise success in 2000, Joe Pantoliano appears in quick succession in the blockbusters Daredevil and Bad Boys 2 in 2003. In addition to his performances for the big screen, the actor plays, during season 3 and 4 of The Sopranos , a mafioso as vile as he is cunning, who will be eliminated by Tony Soprano after a violent fight in a kitchen. He also plays the central character in the detective series FBI: Black Ops .

In the cinema, Joe Pantoliano multiplies the supporting roles in films mostly unknown in France (or even in the United States), such as Canvas, Falling Up, Deadly Impact, Blackout, Run or Die, The Perfect Match, Just Getting Started or again From the Vine. In 2020, he reprized his character of Captain Conrad Howard in Bad Boys for Life , always alongside the police duo played by Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
