Jon Voight is an American actor whose fame began in the 1960s when he made guest appearances in numerous films such as Hour of the Gun, Midnight Cowboy, Outside This, among many others. Although his personal success has always spoken for him, he is also the father of Angelina Jolie and James Haven, although his relationship with the former has always been rocky.

It was on December 29, 1938, in Yonkers, New York that the actor was born as Jonathan Vincent Voight to a father who was a professional golfer (Elmer Voight) and Barbara Voight (mother). He was raised alongside two siblings, Chip Taylor, who is a singer and songwriter, and Barry Voight – geologist, volcanologist and author.

Of Slovak and German descent, he attended Archbishop Stepinac High School in New York, and it was there that he began acting in plays. From there, he continued his studies to obtain an arts degree from the Catholic University of America.

With his eyes already set to become a professional actor, Jon Voight was in New York City as soon as he graduated to pursue an acting career. He got his first role in Gunsmoke when he got a spot on some episodes of the show in 1963. That same year, he got roles in Naked City and The Defenders. He also starred in other TV shows such as Pope John Paul II (2005), 24: Redemption (2008), 24 (2009), Lone Star (2010), and Rat Donovan (2013-).
