Joseph Yobo Biography, Facts
Joseph Philip Yobo was born on September 6, 1980. He was born in Koni, Rivers State, Nigeria. Yobo started his football career in 1996. He was only 16 at the time and the first club he played for was Michellin-Harcourt. In 1997 he joined Standard Liége Club and this was the start of his professional senior football career. He made his first appearance in the team in 2000 and Marseille bought him in 2001.
Shortly thereafter, Marseille gave him up on loan for Tenerife, where he spent just nine months. The player returned to Marseille before being loaned out to Everton. Fortunately, he became an Everton regular in 2003 after his signing with the club became final. The Nigerian player naturally strengthened the team and became the first African to receive the post of captain at the club. While Joseph Yobo has found success at the club he played up until 2010, he has also seen some falls. In 2009, he scored an own goal in Everton’s 2-0 loss to Liverpool. That one mistake was almost nothing compared to the strength it brought to the team he represented.
But it looked like the Everton manager had none of that consistently depended on Joseph before he was loaned back to Fenerbahce in 2010. At the club, the star scored one goal after 30 official games. The loan deal between Everton and Fenerbahce was renewed at a cost of €700,000 and Yobo had another one-year deal with the club worth €2.35m.
The contract was also renewed in 2012, but for an indefinite period, to end his ten-year spell at Everton.
Aside from playing in foreign leagues, Yobo also played in the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations international in the same year as a member of the Nigerian senior team. From 2001 to 2014 he was a member of the Nigerian national team (Super Eagles). During this time he played 101 international matches for FIFA and scored a total of seven goals. The role he played on the Nigeria national team qualified him as a record holder for the Super Eagles.
In a match, he suffered a hamstring injury against Benin, which prevented him from taking part in the friendly against Mexico. He stayed out for about 5 months before resuming play. It was rumored that he went to Prophet TB Joshua to pray and heal. However, following Nigeria’s defeat by France in the round of 16 at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Joseph Yobo announced his retirement.
Another fact about the soccer star is that he loves it when others enjoy his wealth under him. In 2007 he founded the Joseph Yobo Charity Foundation to help underprivileged children in Nigeria. As of July 18, 2007, he has awarded over 300 scholarships ranging from elementary school through university. Yobo has also established a football academy in the Ogoni region of Nigeria.

At this point, Yobo came to Nigeria for a short part of the summer vacation. But when they met Adaeze, they fell deeply in love and he had to spend the whole vacation in Nigeria.
Joseph and Adaeze got married just a few months after the first meeting. Adaeze confessed that they had never known each other before. According to speculation, it was the fact that Adaeze became pregnant that prompted her to quickly decide on marriage. The wedding took place in Jos at midnight on December 31, 2009 and was not a posh one. However, Yobo defended himself, saying it was the only time they could have had it due to family reasons. They are blessed with two handsome sweet sons and a daughter.
