BIOGRAPHY
Kevin Costner, the product of a mixed race (he is of German, Irish and Cherokee origin) first undertook marketing studies at California State University in Fullerton, during which he decided to take drama lessons. He graduated in 1978 and married his college friend Cindy Silva. A meeting with Richard Burton in an airport is decisive and motivates him to leave his job to go to Hollywood.

His beginnings in the world of the seventh art were very difficult. His first film, Sizzle Beach , shot in 1974, did not have the honor of a theatrical release until 1986. It was not until 1984 that destiny knocked on Kevin Costner’s door: he starred in Une Bringue d hell , a nice success, giving him the opportunity to meet the filmmaker Kevin Reynolds , who will become a real accomplice. He then moved on to the western Silverado , a genre which would occupy a prominent place in his career.

In 1987, Kevin Costner’s tenacity finally seemed rewarded when he was chosen by Brian De Palma to play Eliot Ness in The Untouchables . In 1988 and 1989, two successes were born from his interpretations of baseball players with Duo à trois and Until the end of the dream . He then founded the company Tig Productions with his brother Dan and Jim Wilson . She was at the origin of a risky bet and her first production, the western Dances with Wolves , in 1990. A global success, the film was nominated twelve times for the Oscar and won seven statuettes including those for Best film, Best Director and Best Screenplay. Also in 1990, he starred alongside Anthony Quinn in Tony Scott ‘s Revenge . In 1991, Kevin Costner chose to play, under the direction of his friend Kevin Reynolds , a certain Robin Hood, prince of thieves . The same year, he played the lead role in JFK , directed by Oliver Stone . Following a series of successes, he was then in the unforgettable Bodyguard and then toured under the direction of Clint Eastwood in A Perfect World . In 1994, he collaborated again with Reynolds for the ambitious SF film Waterworld (budget of $175 million), which achieved a disappointing score at the box office. But the worst is to come: his second production, Postman

(1997), brought in only 20 million dollars worldwide even though it cost 80…

Kevin Costner then had to face a more difficult period: his following films For the Love of the Game (1999) and Destination : Graceland (2001) was not popular with the public. In 2004, he was reborn by returning to directing with the western Open Range , which met with a very favorable reception from critics. But the actor struggles to return to success and multiplies the failures like The Benefits of Anger , Coast Guards and Mr. Brooks which go relatively unnoticed.

Always present, Kevin Costner, however, delivers a moving performance as a generous entrepreneur in The Company Men in 2011 before playing Superman’s father in the lucrative blockbuster Man of Steel in 2013. That same year, he received an honorary César for his entire career. Active in blockbusters, the actor has released three action films: 3 Days to Kill (2014), The Ryan Initiative (id.) and Criminal (2016).

Father of Jessica Chastain in The Great Game and in pursuit of Bonnie and Clyde alongside Woody Harrelson in The Highwaymen , Kevin Costner also carries the Yellowstone series . In it, the actor plays the patriarch of the Dutton family owning the largest ranch in the United States, which politicians and developers are trying to acquire. At the end of 2020, he plays husband Diane Lane (whom he reunites with after Man of Steel and Batman v Superman ) who seeks to save her grandson from the hands of a violent family in One of Our Own .uary 18, 1955 (Lynwood – California)
