The son of football executive Bob Harlan, KevinHarlan grew up to love the sport. In high school, Kevin began broadcasting for his college radio station and called Play-by-Play for the school’s ice hockey, football, and basketball teams.

He quickly moved on from there and landed his first professional job in 1992 at ESPN, he then worked for FOX as an NFL announcer from 1994 to 1997 before joining his current employer CBS in 1998. On CBS, Harlan broadcasts NFL, NBA and college basketball games.

He also works for the NBA on TNT as a play-by-play announcer. Kevin has also announced a number of Super Bowl games, his first being Super Bowl XLV in 2011 while working for the defunct Westwood One.

The couple share four children together including; Haley Harlan Mancuso, Abigail Harlan, Rob and Olivia Harlan. The most popular of these is daughter Olivia Harlan who followed in her father’s footsteps to become a sports journalist.

Born on April 9, 1993, Olivia, daughter of Harlan fell in love with sports from an early age. While at the University of Georgia, Olivia covered athletics for the school’s website. Like dad, Olivia has experienced rapid progress in her career.

In 2014, she was hired by ESPN and SEC as a college football reporter. She is the host of ACC All Access. Olivia is also popular for her relationship with Los Angeles Clippers player Sam Dekker. Kevin couldn’t be more proud of his little girl.

Harlan was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 21, 1960.

Kevin attended Notre-Dame de Prémontré high school.

He had originally planned to study for his mass communications major at the University of Wisconsin–Madison or the University of Notre Dame, broadcaster Gary Bender recommended the University of Kansas to Bob Harlan, who sent his son to school. Kevin graduated in broadcast journalism in 1982.

Kevin Harlan honed his sportscasting skills under the tutelage of Tom Hedrick, who was, at the time, the Jayhawks’ primary game-by-game announcer for basketball.

Harlan generated a lot of media buzz on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, when he made a game-by-game phone call to a fan being taken care of by security after breaking into a Monday night football game between the 49ers of San Francisco and the Los Angeles Rams.
