BIOGRAPHY
Kiernan Shipka got his start in the entertainment world at an early age, when his parents decided to move to Los Angeles. Starting out as a baby model, she did a series of commercials before landing a few contracts to appear on television. A small gateway for those who, at the age of eight, will be offered an opportunity that will change their life. We are in 2007. The American channel AMC, still in its golden age, is developing Mad Men , the new series by Matthew Weiner (screenwriter on The Sopranos) about Don Draper, big name in New York advertising and a real wolf in affair. Young Kiernan is cast as Jon Hamm ‘s daughter , Sally. An obvious choice for the producers who decided from the second casting to grant him the role.

Although she is only a guest star in the series, critics praise her mature and subtle performance. The interpreter of Sally quickly goes from regular to recurring status from season 4, a pivotal period in which her character must deal with her parents’ divorce. For her performance, the young girl was offered a Young Artist Awards in 2013 and a Screen Actors Guild Awards with the rest of the cast.

In parallel with her role in Mad Men, which she held until the end of the series, Kiernan Shipka landed a few film roles, but never in major productions. We see her fighting for her life alongside Chris Pine in Infected in 2010 and we hear her lend her voice to the sweet Marnie in Memories of Marnie (2015). The same year, she landed the lead role in the comedy Fan Girl , never released on our screens. An appearance in the series Feud last year allowed him to return to the forefront.

In an interview she gave us last month, the young actress told us about the slump she experienced just before landing the role of the little witch in the new Netflix series: “I suffered from numerous rejections before doing Sabrina, I was really at my lowest. And when I got this role, it was magical. It was as if the universe was telling me that all these rejections were worth it.” . It must be said that Kiernan caught the eye of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa , the showrunner of The New Adventures of Sabrina . When the latter puts her through a casting for the character of Betty in Riverdale (which he also co-writes), he knows that he has his little witch in front of him. So, when her horror series project on Sabrina Spellman was ordered by Netflix, Aguirre-Sacasa contacted the young woman directly to offer her the role.
