She was born as Kim Jan Dickens on June 18, 1965, in Huntsville, Alabama to her mother Pam (Clark) Howell and her father – Justin Dickens who was a country music artist. It is not publicly known if she has any siblings or if she is an only child, however, it is an established fact that she spent her childhood days in Huntsville with her family members.

For his education, Dickens was a student of LeeHigh School – a public school located in Madison County, Alabama, USA. In a bid to further her education, she became a student at Vanderbilt University – a private research institution located in Nashville which led her to earn her degree in communications after graduation. After a while Kim Dickens moved to New York and found a job as a waitress where she used her earnings to pay for her education at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts where she developed and honed her acting skills..
