King Princess is a multi-talented American singer who hit the music scene almost suddenly with her rather eerie pop music that comes on the one hand with subtle indifference and on the other with broken heart. Although she only started music professionally in 2015, she reached a peak with her songs that few could reach, or maybe not so quickly.

So far, she’s only got one extended five-track set to her name and a number of singles, but those were enough to propel her to almost instant stardom. For this reason, many have already known her music without knowing anything about her.

King Princess Biography and Age

King Princess was born on December 19, 1998 as Mikaela Straus in New York. Her father, Oliver Straus, is a sound engineer and owner of the Mission Sound studio. As such, she was in touch with music from a young age. Much of her childhood was spent in the studio with her father, where she learned various instruments and production techniques.

She grew up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and in search of a hobby, she took acting lessons when she was young. What influenced her most was the time spent in the studio which allowed her to meet various big names in music, including Missy Elliot and Sia, which the young singer witnessed when she wrote songs.

For her education, she moved to the University of California South in Latin America to study music after graduating from high school. While there, she often left the studio as she continued to work on her music on campus.

Her parents were very supportive of her dream of becoming a musician, but they also wanted her to at least go to college. As a result of this, she continued to mix, staying in the studio until 3 a.m. and then returning to campus at 8 a.m.

King Princess grew up providing background vocals for different artists, but professionally started her career as a singer in 2015. She released her debut EP Make My Bed in 2018. The work had singles such as Talia which was certified Gold as well as 1950 which was certified Gold and Platinum.

After the release of his first track 1950, Harry Styles tweeted some lyrics from the song to his followers of over 32 million. It nearly changed King’s fortunes overnight, as the song received massive blasts across all platforms.

At the start of 2019, she became the finalist for BBC Sound of the Year. In the same year, she also produced the DIY magazines Class of 2019.
