BIOGRAPHY
Born to a father of Dutch origin and a mother of Chinese origin, Kristin Kreuk grew up in Vancouver and turned to sports from an early age, excelling in particular in karate and gymnastics, which she practiced at high level for several years. While she was still in high school, she appeared without much belief in an audition and was finally chosen to play Laurel Yeung in the teen show Edgemont , launched on the Canadian channel CBC in 2001 and which remained on the air for five seasons.
Thanks to this first experience as an actress and her participation in the television film Snow White , in which she played the title role, opposite Miranda Richardson , the producers of Smallville trusted her a few months later and offered her the role coveted by Lana Lang, with whom young Clark Kent ( Tom Welling ) is in love, years before he becomes Superman. The young actress then found herself at the same time in the credits of two series (filmed in the same place, in Vancouver) which made her known internationally, to a predominantly young audience.
Building on this success, Kreuk made his first appearance on the big screen in 2004 in the comedy Sex Trip , then lent his features to the priestess Tenar in the mini-series The Sorcerer’s Prophecy , also starring Isabella Rossellini and Shawn Ashmore . After starring in the feature film Partition , in which she plays the vulnerable Naseem Khan, who falls in love in 1940s India, then in the midst of political upheaval, she decided in 2008 to leave Smallville , after seven years of good and loyal service, to devote himself to other projects.
The following year, the public found her as a martial arts expert heroine in Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li , adapted from the cult video game franchise. In 2010, the beautiful Eurasian starred opposite Joseph Morgan and Emily VanCamp in Ben Hur , a new adaptation of Lew Wallace ‘s novel intended for television which saw her step into the shoes of Tirzah, Ben Hur’s sister, then participated as as a guest in four episodes of Chuck , in the role of Hannah, a businesswoman who does not leave Zachary Levi indifferent.
In 2012, after appearing in the cast of the films Vampire , Irvine Welsh’s Ecstasy , and Space Milkshake, Kristin Kreuk returns to the small screen on a regular basis with the drama Beauty and The Beast , loosely inspired by the 1980s series Beauty and the Beast . In this detective show tinged with romance, the young actress is Inspector Catherine Chandler who seeks to avenge the death of her mother, killed before her eyes nine years earlier. During an investigation, she one day crosses paths with Vincent Keller, played by Jay Ryan , a soldier supposed to have died in Afghanistan in 2002 and in whom she seems to recognize the mysterious beast who saved his life years ago. years.
