BIOGRAPHY
Kyra Minturn Sedgwick was born on August 19, 1965, in New York, United States. When she was three years old, her parents divorced and her mother obtained custody of the little girl. Thus, Kyra grew up in a Jewish environment, learning its customs and traditions. She studied at Sarah Lawrence College, and then enrolled in a theater degree at the University of Southern California.
She would debut at the age of 16 in the series Another World (1982) and then appear in small roles in series such as Miami Vice (1985), Amazing Stories (1986) and American Playhouse (1987), before being selected by director Oliver Stone for the Oscar-nominated film Born on the Fourth of July (1989). She would later be part of the cast of Cameron Crowe’s popular film, Singles (1992), alongside Bridget Fonda, Bill Pullman and Matt Dillon.
Thanks to this film, she began to receive numerous offers that would lead her to participate in films such as Phenomenon (1996) and Training Dad (2007). Kyra has seen greater fortune on television, especially for her role as Brenda Johnson, in the successful series The Closer (2005-2012), in which he participated throughout 109 episodes, for which he would receive a Golden Globe in 2006 and an Emmy Award in 2010.
