Daughter of actor Stig Olin .

Lena Olin began her acting career on the stage. She is part of the prestigious Royal Theater in Stockholm, directed by Ingmar Bergman . The latter offered him his first film role in the disturbing Face-to-face (1976). She found him again in 1982 for a family drama, Fanny and Alexandre . After her debut in Sweden, she began a career in the United States. She revealed herself there in 1987 in The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Philip Kaufman alongside Juliette Binoche .

In 1990, she experienced a love story with Robert Redford against the backdrop of the civil war in Havana by Sydney Pollack . Then she seduced Richard Gere in Mr. Jones (1993, Mike Figgis ). We find her in dark films like Romeo is Bleeding (1993, Peter Medak ) or In the Shadow of Manhattan (1997, Sidney Lumet ).

After a stint in the mainstream comedy register with Mystery Men (1999, Kinka Usher ), she found Juliette Binoche in Lasse Hallström ‘s fable entitled Le Chocolat (2000).

Lena Olin then continued her career in genre cinema, appearing in quick succession in fantasy or detective films such as Ignition , Darkness or Hollywood Homicide . In 2008, Lena Olin played a dual role in Stephen Daldry ‘s The Reader . The actress plays Rose Mather, a Jewish deportee who survived the war (in 1966) and her daughter Ilina Mather (in 1995).
