She was born on April 15, 1965 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Her mother Marluce Martins Perry is Brazilian, her father Alfred Xavier Perry was Portuguese and American. Both were musicians. She has American nationality but is of mixed race.

Linda grew up in a musical and artistic household, showing her interest and talent in music from an early age. As a young girl, she suffered from drug addiction, which prevented her from starting her career on time. However, after receiving a few phone calls that necessitated her relocation to San Francisco in the late ’80s, she cleaned up and took some professional steps toward her career.

In 1989, at the age of 24, Linda Perry finally kicked off her music career in earnest. She started making her songs, singing and playing them on a guitar in the city streets. Soon after releasing her first song Down on Your Face , Christa Hillhouse, founder of the rock band, 4Non Blondes spotted her and urged her to join the group, which she did. When Linda joined the group, she became their vocalist and guitarist. In 1992, the band released their first album , Bigger, Better, Faster, More . She was the lead singer of the 4 Non Blondes’ most popular song, What’s Up? In February 1994, Linda made a solo appearance on Roger Daltrey’s live albumA Celebration: The Music of Pete Townshend and The Who .

After their first album, 4 None Blondes experienced a series of setbacks that led them to temporarily disband. However, Linda continued her career and released her first solo album, In the Flight in 1996. She later released her second solo album After Hours in 1999. In 2002, Perry gave an outstanding live performance at the Knitting Factory in Los Angeles, where she performed a series performed from original music. From 2010-2011, Perry was the presenting sponsor of the Los Angeles talent show STARFEST with Fox Entertainment Group.
