Liz “Mean” Dueweke was born on November 3, 1984. She is from Yuma in the Metro-Detroit area. Liz attended Oakland University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism in May 2006. During her college years, Liz worked as an intern at Fox 2, WJBK and Hour Detroit Magazine.
After graduating from college, she began to work in earnest, honing her skills. During this time, Liz wrote feature, film, bar and restaurant reviews for Real Detroit Weekly. While anchoring KOKH Morning, Liz Dueweke secured the title of “the hottest, meanest girl in OKC media.”
It might surprise you that we didn’t start by telling about her early education and childhood. That’s because Liz Dueweke has also mastered the art of keeping her personal records safe from media scrutiny. What we do know is that Liz Dueweke studied Theater and General Studies at Michigan State University. She also has a degree in broadcast journalism from Oakland University, as mentioned earlier. While a student in Oakland, Liz was a member of the school’s publishing team and other groups and societies on campus.

Liz Dueweke’s media career dates back to her college days. In 2005 she was an intern at Fox 2 WJBK in Southfield, Michigan. During this time, she also worked as a writer and reporter for the Real Detroit Weekly before leaving in 2007. That year she traveled to Yuma, Arizona to find a job at KYMA. a media organization of Sunbelt Communications. Over the following two years, Liz’s job description at KYMA ranged from Weather Presenter, News Host, Producer, Reporter, Web Editor and General Content Editor. In 2009, Liz moved to Flint, Michigan to join WRJT, where she worked as a weekend news editor.
A year later in 2010, Liz Dueweke made another move to Oklahoma City to work as an online/on-air radio host at “TheSpyFM”. Along with her job at TheSpyFM, Liz worked as a social media content writer and morning news for KOKH. From KOKH, Liz moved to her current Seattle location.
In Seattle, she first worked as a lunchtime reporter and morning news anchor at KOMO-4 TV. A year later, Liz accepted a position as a multimedia content creator at KCPQ-TV Q13 FOX. Liz Dueweke currently works as the main anchor for KCPQ-TV’s morning news show. Prior to her current role, she was also a social media content writer and expert communicator.

In February 2013, Liz announced that she was engaged to KFOR’s Adam Mertz; a former television reporter. The announcement also came with a move to their new work base in Seattle, Washington. There is speculation that Liz and her new lover fled to Seattle.
In the “About Me” section of her website, Liz writes that every morning Monday through Friday, she wakes up at 2am while her “husband” also wakes up at 1:30am . That means Liz Dueweke is actually married, although we don’t know exactly how many children the couple have today.
