Melissa Fumero Biography

The charming actress was born Melissa Gallo on August 19, 1982, to parents of Cuban descent. His parents immigrated to America when they were teenagers. Melissa was born and raised in New Jersey. She started dancing as a child because her parents signed her up for dance and acting classes and she eventually caught the performance bug.

Melissa Fumero serenaded the congregation, singing in her local church choir. She also performed in theater productions at her school. After graduating from high school, she attended New York University where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drama.

Unlike other actors who have struggled to find Melissa, she landed her first job on the last day of college. She was offered a role in One Life to Live, a wildly popular soap opera on sale since 1968, winning the Emmy Awards. She appeared on the show until 2011, before next starring in All My Children, a spin-off of the previous series, playing the same character. Around the same time, Melissa had a small role in Gossip Girl.

Her big-screen breakthrough came when she starred in Little Dancer, an independent film that did not receive wide release. She also got a bigger role in the movie Descent, though her character didn’t have a name. She played a character with her real name in the comedy film, Hope They Serve Beer in Hell. Melissa joined the cast of Brooklyn Nine-Nine in 2013, playing Amy Santiago, a police detective from the eponymous police station. Her co-stars included Jo Lo Truglio, Adam Sandberg and Chelsea Peretti.

She also had small appearances in several television series, including The Mentalist, Men at Work, Royal Pains, CSI: NY, and Hell’s Kitchen. The New Jersey native has had a few appearances in web series and other short films. She is the narrator of an audiobook called The Land I’ve Lost (Ghosts of the Shadow Market 7)

Husband – David Fumero, children and family

Melissa met her husband, David Fumero, on the set of One Life to Live, which he also starred in. David is Cuban, just like Melissa, she never imagined she would marry another Latino until she met him.

David and Melissa’s love story began much earlier, years before they actually crossed paths. When the stunning Brooklyn Nine-Nine star was 13, she had a huge crush on David Fumero, who was 10 years older and a regular on MTV, where he worked as a model. However, she didn’t realize he was the David of her teenage obsession until they had been dating for a few months.

They hid their relationship at first to avoid public glare. The pair tied the knot in early December 2007 and remain happily ever after despite rumors peddling about extramarital affairs. David admits he struggled watching his wife fall in love with someone else while he plays his cousin, but with trust and understanding they overcame it.

Melissa got pregnant while they were filming the third season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and her son was born five days after they wrapped filming for that season, on March 24, 2016. They named him baby boy Enzo. The family continues to live happily at their home in Los Angeles.
