She is also a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma with a double degree in performance and pre-medical studies and a minor in violin and dance.

After graduating from college, Melina Govich moved to New York in the late 90s to begin her acting career. With her background in ballet and music, she started performing in musicals. She made her Broadway debut in the musical revival of Cabaret, performed between 1998 and 2004, with Govich joining in December 2000. She acted as an understudy to the lead role, Sally Bowles, who later played the lead.
