BIOGRAPHY
Of Mexican origin, Nicholas Gonzalez began his career as an actor in 1998. Passionate about literature, the 22-year-old young man was contacted to play in a play written by Maria Irene Fornés. In the process, Alma Martinez, actress and professor at Stanford, encouraged him to become a professional actor. With his help, “Nick” joins a theater group in San Francisco. From then on, he performed in classic and contemporary pieces.
The same year, the San Antonio native left the stage for television. His first appearance is in the sitcom Dharma and Greg , played by Jenna Elfman . In 2000, Nicholas Gonzalez experienced his first success with the series Resurrection Blvd , which remained on the air for three seasons. He plays Alex Santiago, a medical student who quits his studies to become a professional boxer. At the same time, the actor is starring in Walker, Texas Ranger and That ’70s Show , but also in the TV movie The Princess and the Barrio Boy , a modern version of Romeo and Juliet with Marisol Nichols, his partner in Resurrection Blvd.
For his film debut, Gonzalez starred in Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid in 2004 , alongside Maurice Chestnut, playing Dr. Ben Douglas. His appearances in several successful series follow one another, such as Newport Beach , Grey’s Anatomy , True Blood , CSI: Miami , Mon Oncle Charlie and NCIS: Special Investigations . Roles of detective and police officer were offered to him on numerous occasions, notably in Melrose Place, Nouvelle Génération , Pretty Little Liars , Narcos but also Down for life , a drama film with Danny Glover and Snoop Dogg. In 2015, he played Dante Ramon, Cisco’s brother, for the first time in the new DC Comics series, Flash . At the start of the 2017 school year, Nicholas Gonzalez starred opposite Freddie Highmore in The Good Doctor and played Dr. Neil Melendez, an arrogant department head and brilliant surgeon who is not very enthusiastic about the arrival of a young autistic doctor.
