Pablo Escobar, known as El Doctor, El Patron, Don Pablo and El Czar de las Drogas, was a Colombian drug trafficker. He was also called “The King of Cocaine”. The founder of the Medellín Cartel was also a politician. His cartel was an organization of drug suppliers and smugglers based in Medellin, Colombia. The cartel was responsible for smuggling up to 80% of the illegal cocaine into the United States at the time.
Escobar was one of the most powerful and wealthy criminals in the world. Forbes magazine also listed him as the seventh richest man in the world. Escobar was a noted philanthropist who brilliantly built and expanded many social projects, helping the poor, etc. However, from the high-paying business he saw many deaths of people who changed public opinion. Escobar, a drug lord, was born in Rionegro, Colombia on December 1 , 1949. His father, Abel de Jesús Dari Escobar, was a peasant. His mother was a primary school teacher. He had six brothers from his parents. Later his family moved to a suburb of Envigado.
Escobar had attended the Universidad Autónoma Latino Americana, Medellín and left without a degree. Since childhood he was very ambitious and wanted to get up by all possible means. Unfortunately, he chose the path that was quick but illegal. When he was a teenager, he used to sell and steal tombstones, contraband cigarettes, fake lottery tickets, and also cars.
