Many soccer players seem to have a team look at home thanks to the support of the fans and the professional relationship they have with the coach and the other teammates. Patrick Chung has found such a team that has helped him do his best as one of the NFL safety players.

His professional career began in 2009 after he was drafted in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft, which is when his relationship with his current team – New England Patriots – began. However, he left the team after four successful seasons to join the Philadelphia Eagles. Shortly after a season with the Eagles, he returned to the Patriots to pick up where he left off. Here’s everything you need to know about security.

Patrick Chung’s Bio, Ethnicity

On August 19, 1987 the year Patrick Christopher Chung was born in Kingston, Jamaica to Jamaican parents. He is of mixed ethnicity – Asian and African – but Jamaican and American nationalities.

Patrick Chung attended Rancho Cucamonga High California school where he played football, among other things, as a safety and wide player. He completed his college education at the University of Oregon, where he received a red shirt in 2004 before taking the Rover position the following year. His accomplishments in college as a junior and senior earned him multiple honors, including All-Pacific-10 Conference, Second Team All-American, and First Team All-Pac-10 Conference, to name a few.

He also set the record as a defensive back, starting the most games in Oregon history with 51 direct games in his collegiate career. He previously wanted to relinquish his last year’s eligibility to enter the 2008 NFL draft, but would change his mind and return to Oregon and finish his senior year.

He eventually went into the 2009 NFL draft, in which he was drafted by the New England Patriots in the second round as a 34th overall and was the second safety drafted on the practice. On July 27, 2009, he officially signed a 4-year, $5 million contract with the Patriots with a $2 million signing bonus.

In his first stint with the Patriots from 2009-12, he played 50 games and recorded 239 combined tackles (163 solo games), 19 pass deflections, 7 interceptions and a lone touchdown.

On March 12, 2013, Philadelphia Eagles acquired the services of Patrick on a three-year, $10 million deal with $4 million guaranteed. Due to injuries, problems with tackling and passing coverage, he spent a season with the Eagles, playing 12 games in which he recorded 44 combined tackles (29 solo) with 3 pass deviations. He was released by the Eagles on March 11, 2014, saving $2.25 million in court.

He made his second move to the Patriots in April3, 2014, on a one-year, $1.1 million contract with $120,000 guaranteed and a $60,000 signing bonus. With a remarkable season of 16 games and 15 starts with 85 combined tackles (50 solo games), 7 pass deflections and a single interception, he earned a three-year contract extension with the Patriots worth $8.20M with a guaranteed 3, $40 million and a $2.40 million contract signing bonus he signed on January 9, 2015.

His playing ability never faltered, and he signed another one-year extension with the Patriots on April 1, 2016 for $5.70 million with a $1.80 million guarantee and an $800,000 signing bonus.

The same contract was renewed for another 2 years, in March 2018 in the amount of $7.80m with a $5.2m guarantee and a $3.60m signing bonus expecting him through 2020 at the club.

So far in his second stint, he has played 63 games and recorded 345 combined tackles (229 solo), 28 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

Patrick Chung family: father and mother

Patrick was born to reggae artist Sophia George-Chung and music producer Roland Chung. His mother was an influence on reggae music in the 80s. One of her hits is Girlie Girlie Most of her songs were produced by her husband who also acted as manager.

The no. 23 Patriot man has four brothers and three sisters. His half brother Brian Carey Chung is a choreographer, dancer and poet. Patrick is so proud of his family especially his parents whom he adores and sees as his anchor to educate him responsibly.

The 5ft 11in tall athlete is quite a responsible young man on and off the field. He is a husband and a proud father as he is married to Cecilia Champion Chung, a woman he met years ago in Boston, Massachusetts. They met long before tying the wedding knot on June 30, 2012 in Nepa Valley – a ceremony attended by 150 guests made up of immediate family and close friends.

They have a son named Taj James Chung who was born on September 18, 2010, two years before their marriage. Though they’ve given back to society through their Changing Lives Foundation, it hasn’t reduced his annual salary of $900,000 or estimated net worth of around $4 million. His lovely wife is currently the executive director of his foundation.
