A man the entertainment industry will not forget in a hurry; Patrick Swayze, born on August 18, 1952, to the family of Jesse Wayne Swayze and Patricia ‘Patsy’ Yvonne Helen Swayze, was an American of American nationality, originally from Houston, Texas, United States.

Career and life achievements

Patrick Wayne Swayze’s breakthrough came when he starred as dance instructor Jonny Castle in the movie Dirty Dancing, produced in 1987. He co-wrote the soundtrack “She’s Like the Wind” for the film, which he sang at the Golden Globe Award after earning a nomination. The song became a top 10 hit and has since been covered by other artists.

His greatest success, however, came in 1990, when he starred in the American fantasy thriller Ghost. A year later, he earned the reputation of “the sexiest man alive” by People Magazine.

Patrick co-produced the fictional dance film O ne dernier danse, where he also starred with his wife Lisa, in 1993. He then had to stay out of filming for a while after breaking both legs doing scenes for HBO’s Letters from the Killer in 1998. He fell off a horse and hit a tree and suffered from loose tendons in his shoulder.

His father died of a heart attack at age 57 in 1982 and Swayze, touched by his father’s death, began to drink heavily, to the point that he had to go to a rehabilitation center to overcome his addiction. His sister Vicky committed suicide by overdose in 1994.

His cause of death was listed as cardiorespiratory arrest, with an underlying cause of advanced pancreatic cancer. In January 2008, Patrick was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer.

The Beast was his last appearance in the film industry. Patrick could not promote the series due to prolonged health issues, and on June 15, 2009, Entertainment Tonight announced the series’ cancellation. His body was cremated and his ashes were scattered on his ranch in New Mexico.
