Attracted by comedy, Paul Reiser discovered his talents as a comedian and took his first steps in the world of New York stand-up in the early 1980s. Barry Levinson directed him in 1982 in his first feature film Diner , at the alongside other young talents like Steve Guttenberg , Mickey Rourke and Kevin Bacon . In the process, he landed the role of Detective Jeffrey Friedman in Beverly Hills Cop , a film that launched the career of Eddie Murphy . James Cameron then chose him to star opposite Sigourney Weaver in Aliens: The Return . To everyone’s surprise, he plays the devious Carter Burke who forces Ripley to accept a suicide mission by confronting a horde of aliens.
