Rand Paul – Biography, Wife, Net Worth, Parents and Family Life
Rand Paul is the son of Ron Paul, the pioneer of the Tea Party movement and one-time US Representative for the 22nd Circuit of Texas. Like his father, Rand is a doctor — more specifically, an ophthalmologist — who has strayed into politics and has equally followed in his father’s footsteps.
The politician has supported the teacelebrate publicly, he even wrote a book about it. He currently represents Kentucky along with Republican Party member Mitch McConnell. Rand took office on January 5, 2011 after defeating Jack Conway in the November 2010 general election.
Rand Paul’s biography
The American junior senator was born on January 7, 1963 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is a physician as well as a politician representing Kentucky in the Senate. He grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas with his four siblings. Rand became interested in politics as a teenager and read extensively on the subject. During his vacations, he also worked as an intern in his father’s convention bureau, gradually developing his leadership skills and political acumen.
The US Senator received his high school education at Brazoswood High School, Texas, where he demonstrated his swimming skills and also played in the defensive position on the school’s football team. He then attended Baylor University and from there transferred to the Medical College at Duke University School of Medicine, where he received his medical degree and completed his residency in 1993.
A year later, he founded the grassroots organization Kentucky Taxpayers United to review state taxes and spending. Although the organization was dissolved in 2000, he founded the non-profit Southern Kentucky Eye Clinic in 1995, where he performed free eye exams and surgeries.
After about 15 years of working for others, RandPaul, who decided to start his own practice in December 2007, where he worked actively until August 5th, 2010. He then declared his interest in running for the Kentucky Senate seat under the auspices of the Republican Party.
An ardent Liberal and Conservative supporter in early 2009, he found favor with his father’s supporters, who found him a worthy candidate to replace or face Republican Sen. Jim Bunning. This opinion was hotly debated in local and national tabloids, where his successes in his father’s political campaigns in the last years since his university days spoke for him.
He received the endorsement of much of the TeasParty and Conservatives running for the same position previously held by Jim Bunning as their representative in the Grand Assembly, after Jim declared that he would not be continuing his third assignment. Rand delivered his acceptance speech on April 15, 2009 in Bowling Green, Kentucky and worked with his supporters to raise funds to support his primary and general election campaigns.
He ran against Republican favorite TreyGrayson in the July 2009 primary, winning it by winning 23% of the party tickets for the general election, where he also ran against top Democratic Shooter Jack Conway emerged victorious by a good 56%. He became the new Senator for Kentucky and was sworn in at the same time as his father, Rand Paul Snr, in January 2011. who served in the House of Representatives.
In December 2015, he was running for re-election as the United States Senator representing Kentucky and running for mayor of Lexington, Jim Gary. He defeated Jim, who polled 42.7% with his 57.3% and was subsequently sworn in.
Senator Rand has served on various Senate committees, including the Energy, Natural Resources, Health, Education, and Labor and Retirement Committees, to name a few.
During his time in the Senate, Rand updated the status of the union address as passed by the Tea Party movement to former US President Barrack Obama, spoken at length in a filibuster for nearly 13 hours; a delaying tactic to prevent the confirmation date from voting on John Brennan, the CIA candidate.
Rand Paul, unlike his other Republican counterpart, has one of the lowest vote counts for non-voting or co-sponsored bills from 2011-2018, at about 3.3%, and he has no record of bills that he primarily authored himself sponsored the convention floor. He is said to have co-funded about 75 bills and serves on a sessional committee on some committees such as the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, the State Department Committee, and USAID Management, International Operations, and Bilateral International Development. He also advocated privacy reform, amending the balanced budget and limiting political term for incumbents.

Paul was born to Ron Paul; a doctor who specialized as an obstetrician and gynecologist and later a House of Representatives of the United States. Ron tried three times for the presidential mandate, but failed. His wife Carlyn has written and published cookbooks, the proceeds of which she has supported her husband.
The couple is blessed with 5 wonderful children; Ronald aka Ronnie, Paul Jr., Lori Paul Pyeatt, Robert Paul and Joy Paul-LeBlanc. The senator’s siblings are doing well in their respective careers.

Aspiring politician Rand Paul is happy he was married to heartthrob Kelley Ashby and met her in 1988 at Duke University School of Medicine. She was born on September 3, 1963 in Russellville, a writer into a predominantly military family, but grew up in Turkey and other places as her father frequently transmitted.
She was a student at Russellville High School and attended Rhode College, where she earned a degree in English and Communications.
Their union has produced three sons, William (born 1992), Duncan (born 1997) and Robert (born 2000). They are devout Christians and were members of the Baptist but later joined the Presbyterian Church.
