Jo Raquel Tejada, better known as Raquel Welch , is an American actress and singer, born on September 5, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois. Daughter of a Bolivian engineer, Raquel spent much of her childhood studying ballet, but her teachers considered that she did not have enough foundations for a career, so she tried her hand at modeling and acting. At age 14, she won a beauty pageant and, upon graduating high school, she became pregnant and married her boyfriend James Welch, from whom she would take her last name, despite her marriage. lasted 3 years.
