BIOGRAPHY
A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, Rob Marshall was quickly attracted to musical comedy. In 1992, he signed his first choreography on Broadway in Kiss of the Spider Woman . After working on several shows, he made his directorial debut in 1998 by directing, alongside Sam Mendes , the triumphant New York revival of Cabaret .

After directing a version of the show Annie for the small screen, Rob Marshall launched into the seventh art in 2002 by adapting with Chicago another musical comedy, which he had already produced on stage. This first cinematic experience resulted in enormous success: the film, led by Catherine Zeta-Jones , Renée Zellweger and Richard Gere , won five Oscars, with Rob Marshall being nominated in the Best Director category.

Rob Marshall then signed Memoirs of a Geisha , based on a novel by Arthur Golden , but his passion for the musical world was too strong. In 2008, he directed and choreographed the film Nine , a musical comedy carried by a luxury cast: Nicole Kidman , Penélope Cruz , Marion Cotillard and Daniel Day-Lewis , among others, sing and dance in front of the filmmaker’s camera. Now at the table with the greatest, Rob Marshall was chosen to direct Pirates of the Caribbean: On Fountain of Youth in 2011 , the fourth part of the adventure saga.
