BIOGRAPHY
Daughter of French actor Richard Bohringer , Romane Bohringer made her first experience of the seventh art alongside her father for the film Kamikaze , while she was still a teenager. The year she graduated, she was hired by Peter Brook to play Miranda in Shakespeare’s The Tempest . This experience shocked her and definitely convinced her to become an actress.
In 1992, Cyril Collard entrusted him with the painful role of Laura in his Nuits fauves . A surprise success, this film brought her fame and a César for Most Promising Actress. She likes to portray tormented characters, a self-effacing young girl living vicariously in Claude Miller’s ( L’Accompagnatrice ), an introverted painter for Martine Dugowson ( Mina Tannenbaum ) or even an unbalanced, manipulative person in Gilles Mimouni ( L’Appartement ). Building on her popularity, Romane Bohringer was involved in a major European production in 1995: she played David Thewlis ‘ invasive wife in Agnieszka Holland ‘s Rimbaud Verlaine . At the end of the 1990s, she led a dense theatrical activity and moved away a little from the big screen, choosing her roles sparingly. After a few confidential films and short films, Romane Bohringer returned to the forefront in 2001 with the fantastic tale Little Thumb . The following year, her path crossed that of director Benoît Cohen , who offered her one of the main roles in Our Darling Children then in Who Loves Me Follows Me in 2005. The actress did not hesitate to participate in projects ambitious: she lends her voice to Luc Jacquet ‘s animal documentary , The March of the Emperor , follows Chantal Richard to Africa for the melancholic Lili and the Baobab , supports the first feature film of young Djibril Glissant by playing a mysterious young woman in his Scout and does not hesitate to play his own role in Richard Bohringer ‘s film , It’s Beautiful a City at Night , adaptation of his homonymous novel.
