BIOGRAPHY
After abortive studies in a Benedictine monastery, Rupert Everett left at the age of 15 to study theater in London, where he subsequently joined the Royal Shakespeare Company . Participating in several television series, he debuted in the cinema as a double agent in the romantic drama Story of a Betrayal in 1984. He went on to several dramatic roles, notably in A Crime for a Passion (1985) by Mike Newell and Chronicle of a Death announced (1986), before expanding his repertoire to comedy with Tolérance (1989).

In the 1990s, Rupert Everett’s fame grew thanks to his performances in Strange Seduction (1990) by Paul Schrader and Prêt-à-porter (1994) by Robert Altman . It was in 1996 that he achieved his first popular success with the romantic comedy My Best Friend’s Wedding , where he played Julia Roberts ‘ homosexual friend . His typically British charm and phlegm allowed him to play a gentleman aristocrat twice under the direction of Oliver Parker , in the romantic comedies An Ideal Husband (1999) and The Importance of Being Earnest (2001), both adapted from the literary work of Oscar Wilde .

The friendship that Rupert Everett formed with Madonna materialized on the screen in the bluette An Almost Perfect Couple in 2000. His distinguished English appearance also led him to shine in numerous period films such as The Madness of the King George (1994), Shakespeare in love (1998) and Stage beauty (2005), where he is King Charles II. Turning to the French public, he starred opposite Catherine Deneuve in the prestigious television saga Les Liaisons Dangereuses by Josée Dayan , then shared the poster in the comedy People Jet Set 2 (2004) alongside José Garcia .

Rupert Everett also tried his hand at animation, lending his voice to Prince Charming from Shrek 2 (2004) and the fox from The Chronicles of Narnia: Chapter 1 – The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005).
