During the 2016 US presidential election, one could count the number of women on television who vocally supported Donald Trump of the Republican Party. People like Kellyanne Conway and Ann Coulter top the list, but there’s also Scottie Nell Hughes.

Hughes is a journalist, news anchor and political commentator who previously held a paid post for CNN during the 2016 election. She now works with RT America as the anchor for her weekday newscasts.

Scottie Nell Hughes Bio (Age)

Scottie Nell Hughes was born on June 21, 1980. Although her father is not known, her mother is Linda Semler. The American journalist was raised as an only child. However, she had had a brother named Cliff Pelc, who died aged eight, eight years before she was born.

Cliff lost his life after being shot by his nanny’s son who was 12 at the time. The older boy had the gun in a bedside table. Although no charges were brought, Scottie’s mother had always believed that the tragedy was no accident. She thought the nanny’s son might have killed Cliff out of jealousy that his mother didn’t love him as much as the younger child.

Without a sibling, she grew up rather alone and always wondered what it would be like if she had had her brother. She still has Cliff’s picture around her house.

Despite the loss of her only brother, the strong Conservatives would later in the future defend the right of individuals to bear arms, saying that the problem is not guns, but the evil in the hearts of men.

For his education, Hughes earned a degree in Broadcast Communication/Political Science from the University of Tennessee (Martin).

She began her career in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee where she worked as an executive producer on the radio’s conservative program, the Steve Gill Show. From then on, she continued to work in radio in different production capacities, including The Rusty Humphries Show and The Michael Berry Show.

The American news anchor may have her eyes set on politics. She revealed in 2016 that she had been approached by some to consider running for Congress should Diane Black decide to run for governor of Virginia. Although she really thought about it, she did not pursue the cause.
