BIOGRAPHY
Silvia Pinal Hidalgo is a Mexican actress, businesswoman and producer, born on September 12, 1931, in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico. The daughter of María Luisa Hidalgo and Moisés Pasquel, Silvia was raised by her mother’s second husband, Luis Pinal, a Mexican journalist and politician. In her childhood, she lived in several cities, such as Querétaro, Acapulco, Cuernavaca, Puebla and, finally, her family settled in Mexico City.

While working as a secretary, in the advertising department at a pharmaceutical products firm, Silvia would meet several radio personalities, who gave her the opportunity to participate in the recording of some radio programs, such as Dos pesos la dejada and Sueño de a summer night After this, Silvia would take acting classes at the Institute of Fine Arts, as well as singing classes. She would soon meet the Cuban actor and director Rafael Banquells, who would offer her roles in the plays that she put on with the Spanish actress Isabelita Blanch.

In the mid-1950s, the actress would gain international recognition after participating in the acclaimed film A Stranger on the Stairs (1954), and later appearing in films such as Mortal Sin (1954), The Story of a Mink Coat ( 1954), The Suspect (1954), The Innocent (1955), A Love Date (1956). After her success in Mexico, Silvia would leave for Spain, where she filmed films such as Bárbara’s Follies (1959), Charleston (1959), Maribel and the Strange Family (1960) and ¡Adiós, Mimí Pompón! (1961)

His film career would reach its climax with his collaborations with director Luis Buñuel, with whom he made the films Viridiana (1961), El Ángel Exterminador (1962) and Simón del Desierto (1964).

Pinal would be one of the most important actresses in television and theater, achieving an impressive career. In 1985, she became the producer and host of the program Mujer,casos de la vida real , which presented episodes of current cases from everyday life. It aired for more than 20 years, until its cancellation in 2007.
