Stefán Karl Stefánsson is the famous Icelandic television, stage and film actor who came into the spotlight after his appearance on the series LazyTown. The ever-so-talented actor is a beloved character in children’s musical comedy. The show was reportedly broadcast around the world and everyone seems to know Karl’s character, Robbie Rotten.

Stefán Karl Stefánsson was born on July 10, 1975. Karl hails from Hafnarfjörður, a port city on the southwest coast of Iceland. He grew up in a working class family and already had a penchant for acting and comedy.
For his education, Stefán went on to join the Icelandic Academy of Arts in Reykjavik . During her time at the academy, she began to realize her love for acting. She also did not agree with the norm and perspectives of Icelandic drama standards. She didn’t buy into the idea that acting wasn’t about making faces and changing your face, as the high school principal once suggested.

After graduating from the institution, Stefánsson went on to work for the Icelandic National Theater and before long began to earn respect and fame for his work. By now, Stefán had become one of the best comedic actors in the National Theater, and even in Iceland. As a result, he was chosen to play a major role in the play Lazy Town.
Karl then landed the role of Robbie Rotten and became the obvious choice for the adaptation of television productions. The show then aired on August 16, 2004 on Nickelodeon.
He was the main villain of the show and gave it worldwide recognition. Later, the series managed to win awards such as EMIL, EDDA and was even nominated for an Emmy, and much had to be attributed to Stefánsson.

Stefan was reportedly married to famous actress Steinunn Ólína, who is also from Iceland. Stefan’s wife is famous for her best-selling book Parental Guidance. Stefan has 4 children (3 daughters and a son) with Steinunn. They used to live together in San Francisco, California.
In 2016, doctors were able to detect Stefánsson’s pancreatic cancer. She went through different surgeries and the doctors were able to remove two masses from her liver. However, on June 21, 2017, his cancer was continuously growing and reached stage 4. Realizing the situation, his fans turned to the Internet to financially support the actor. But sadly, Stefánsson passed away on August 21, 2018.
