Tamlyn Tomita is a Japanese-American actress and singer who made her mark in Hollywood with the 1986 martial arts drama film The Karate Kid Part II. She immediately launched her music career the following year, releasing her debut single and album on British label Polydor.
Tamlyn went on to establish herself in films like Come See the Paradise (1990), The Joy Luck Club (1993), Picture Bride (1994) and more. With a career spanning over two decades, the veteran actress shows no signs of slowing down. In 2017, she had a recurring role on MTV’s hit series Teen Wolf.

Tamlyn Tomita Age/Bio
Tamlyn Naomi Tomita was born on November 27, 1966 in Okinawa, Japan to parents Shiro Tomita (father) and Asako Tomita (mother). His mother has Filipino roots which makes the Tamlyn neighborhood a Filipino neighborhood. His father, Shiro, was a policeman. Prior to joining the Los Angeles Police Department, LAPD had worked as an intern in Manzanar, California during part of World War II.
As of January 2017, Tamlyn’s mother, Asako, is still alive. This Instagram post reveals;
As a sergeant with the Los Angeles Police Department, Shiro helped found the first Asian task force in 1977. He lost his life to cancer in 1990.
Tamlyn attended Granada Hills High School in San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles. After high school, she enrolled at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) where she majored in history.

As a student, the beautiful Tamlyn developed a passion for modeling. She started by participating in beauty pageant contests. She was crowned queen at the 1984 Nisei Week pageant in Los Angeles (pictured below);
The following year, 1985, Tamlyn was crowned queen at the Miss Nikkei International.
It was her first beauty pageant win at the 1984 Nisei Week Pageant that paved the way for her acting career. As part of her award, Tamlyn traveled to Hawaii where she was chosen by director John G. Avildsen to star in the first sequel to The Karate Kid, in 1984.
Tamlyn portrayed the role of Kumiko and Fortunately, the sequel was a hit that enjoyed even greater financial success than the original. Karate Kid Part 2 grossed $115.1 million on a budget of $13 million.

Tamlyn’s impressive acting soon opened the doors to 1990s Come See the Paradise, a World War II film depicting how Japanese Americans were treated in America after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
In 1991, People magazine named Tamlyn one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world.
In 1993 she appeared in the movie Come See the Paradise which featured a band. She also had a role in the 1995 anthology comedy film, Four Rooms, which also starred Madonna and Antonio Banderas.
Tamlyn’s acting career continues to be activeuntil the new millennium. In 2008, she made a guest appearance on Shonda Rhimes’ TV series Private Practice. In 2012, she had a role in the gymnastics drama Make It or Break It. His most recent films include The Good Neighbor (2016) and Berlin Station (2016).
When Tamlyn is not acting, she spends her time defending the interests of Asians.

Tamlyn keeps her private life top secret and is far from tabloid fodder. In 2006, she reportedly had a relationship with fellow Asian-born Gray Wantabe. Rumors about their relationship started swirling after they got together in the independent film ‘Only the Brave’ in 2006. However, the rumors about their romance didn’t last long.
Since then, there has been no information whatsoever about Tamlyn’s romantic life. However, we did some research and discovered that contrary to what most celebrity sites claim, Tamlyn is not single but married. A visit to her Instagram page reveals that Tamlyn is married to a white man who appears to be an American.

She posted quite a few photos with the unnamed man with the two wearing wedding rings. Unfortunately, there is no information on when the two became a couple. Tamlyn really prefers to keep her private life as private as possible.
