He was born Theodore Anthony Nugent on December 13, 1948 in Redford, Michigan, USA. Ted is the third of four children born to his parents – Marion Dorothy and Warren Henry Nugent, a military sergeant. He is of American nationality and of part Swedish descent through his maternal grandparents.
Ted Nugent grew up in Michigan, right in the city of Detroit. Ted developed a passion for music and hunting from a young age, mastering the bow by the age of five and the guitar by the age of six. As a child, he used to hunt in the Dearborn Hills of Michigan. Later, at the age of fourteen, he founded his first music band “Lourdes”.
After his elementary school education, Ted enrolled at the William Fremd High School in Palatine, Illinois. Before marrying Shemane Deziel, Ted Nugent, the duo divorced on January 30, 1971, with Sandra Janowski. Sandra Janowski later died in a horrific car accident in 1982.
