BIOGRAPHY
Thomas William Selleck, better known as Tom Selleck, began his acting career in the theater in 1969. In 1974, he achieved popularity in the United States by playing for 2 years the role of Jed Andrews in the series The Young and the Restless . His contract expired, he took on various roles, notably appearing in other series such as The Streets of San Francisco or Funny Ladies .
The year 1980 marked a turning point in his career; in fact, he was offered the role of Thomas Magnum in a new series: Magnum , created by Glen A. Larson and Donald P. Bellisario . At the same time he was spotted by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas who wanted to hire him to play the role of Indiana Jones in the film Raiders of the Lost Ark . Unfortunately for Selleck, filming on the series cannot be delayed, with the role ultimately going to Harrison Ford . However, the Magnum series is a global success. Eight seasons were filmed, from 1980 to 1988.
Once the series was finished, he made several films including Runaway , Three Men and a Baby , In & Out . He also plays the role of Dr. Richard Burke in Friends and that of Ivan Tiggs during a few episodes of Boston Justice . In 2007, he replaced James Caan as head of security at the Montecito in Las Vegas .
