BIOGRAPHY
Grandson of the famous producer Samuel Goldwyn , Anthony Howard “Tony” Goldwyn was immersed in a world of movie buffs from his childhood. After studying Arts at Brandeis University in Massachusetts, he crossed the Atlantic to take drama courses at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art . With his diploma in hand, he obtained his first role in 1987 in Friday the 13th: Jason is Alive before truly distinguishing himself in Ghost by Jerry Zucker , where he played a Machiavellian banker responsible for the death of his colleague ( Patrick Swayze ). Mainly confined to supporting roles, he notably toured under the direction of Alan J. Pakula ( The Pelican Affair in 1994) and Oliver Stone ( Nixon in 1996) before lending his voice in 1997 to Disney’s Tarzan .
His career took a new direction in 2000 when he decided to direct his first feature film, The Choice of a Life , of which he was also the producer. He repeated the experience the following year with a lighter romantic comedy, Animal Attraction , where he directed Hugh Jackman and Ashley Judd . However, he does not abandon his acting career and alternates appearances in the cinema ( The Last Samurai ) but also in series for which he also directs a few episodes ( FBI: Missing , The L Word , etc.). In 2006, he filmed his third film, Last Kiss , an American remake of Just a Kiss with Zach Braff .
