Tsutomu Miyazaki – 7 disturbing facts about the Japanese serial killer
Japan is a country in East Asia mostly located in the news for good reasons. The country’s laws are strict on drugs while drinking and smoking are only legal at age 20; they have also been praised for their stricter gun ownership laws. Looking at the above, one will tend to believe that there are mostly well-bred people in Japan. But while that may be the case now, it hasn’t always been so, at least a certain Tsutomu Miyazaki dragged this peaceful island country into the history book of countries that have had the worst serial killers than the world has ever known.
Good riddance to bad trash, Tsutomu is gone back to where he came from, but the fact remains that his deeds while alive still send shivers down the spine of every human being. In his moments of terror, the press portrayed him as the Little Girl’s Killer, Rat Man, Otaku’s Killer/Geek’s Killer, and even Dracula’s. Discoveries made after his arrest allowed him to describe him more as a cannibal and necrophiliac who even practiced vampirism.
context
Looking back on his early life, it becomes clear that even though Tsutomu Miyazaki’s killing spree lasted less than a year, his problems started long ago when he was still a child. He was born in Itsukaichi, Tokyo, Japan on August 21, 1962, as a product of incest between Katsumi Miyazaki (his father) and his older sister. Tsutomu Miyazaki was born prematurely as a result of which his hands were deformed; his wrists were tied to his forearm. His family was repeatedly cited among the wealthy, his father owned a newspaper in the town of Itsukaichi where they also had the respect of their fellow citizens.
Due to this deformity, his fellow students from Itsukaichi Elementary School bullied him many times. In response, Miyazaki remained mostly alone in the face of growing pressure from his parents to do well in school. As expected, the latter has aggravated his misfortunes. However, when he arrived at Meidai Nakano High School in Nakano, Tokyo, his grades improved markedly in his freshman year, but thereafter he returned to the norm. Tsutomu Miyazaki missed the usual opportunity to enroll in Meiji University due to his poor grades, but he trained as a photography technician at a local junior college.
When he finished his studies, he moved back to his family, which unfortunately fueled his sordid desires. He did not get along with his family members, especially his two younger sisters. Miyazaki only found solace with his grandfather, but fate beheld him that the old man died in 1988. Feeling more downcast than ever, he ate some of his ashes to hold him in his body. Within a few weeks, he was caught peeking at one of his sisters who was washing up. Telling him to leave, Tsutomu attacked him. When their mother heard of his actions and reprimanded him, he attacked her too, showing how wild he had become.
The next events in his life and his victims are sad, the reason for which Tsutomu Miyazaki became famous. His crimes shocked his local community, his country and even the rest of the world. Between August 1988 and June 1989, Miyazaki abducted, mutilated, killed, and had carnal knowledge of the corpses of his victims. His victims were 4 girls, none of whom were 7 years old and the youngest was 4 years old. They are Mari Konno (4 years old), Masami Yoshizawa (7 years old), Erika Namba (4 years old) and Ayako Nomoto (5 years old). old).
7 disturbing facts about Tsutomu Miyazaki – the Japanese serial killer
1. Voyer
One of Tsutomu Miyazaki’s perversions was his voyeurism. Remember you read above that he was caught glancing at his sister while she was bathing. It didn’t stop there. He was obsessed with taking upskirt pictures of female college table tennis players he used to masturbate at will. He also had a passion (from 1984) for child pornography which was legal in Japan at that time.
2. Videotapes
After his arrest, approximately 5,763 videotapes of child pornography, violent horror movies, torture porn and anime were found in every nook and cranny of his tiny bedroom. Video documentaries of the 4 girls he had previously killed were also discovered by police authorities at his home.
3. Ritual killings
Tsutomu abducted his first victim on August 22, 1988 marking his 26th birthday. He lured 4-year-old Mari Kono into his Nissan Langley and drove her west to Tokyo. The murderer then parked and remained under a bridge with his unsuspecting victim for about 30 minutes before he killed her and subsequently had sex with her corpse. His second victim, Masami Yoshizawa, was similarly killed on October 3, 1988.
On December 12, Otaku’s killer made his third kill in a different way. The murderer’s daughter traveled to Naguri, Saitama after forcibly abducting her third victim – Erika Nanba. He forced her to strip naked in his car, took photos of her before smothering the life of the innocent 4-year-old girl.
The 4th victim of Tsutomu Miyazaki did not enter his trap until after 6 months from his last murder. He cleverly lured 5-year-old Ayako Nomoto to take her picture in his car. The girl accentuated and shortly after getting into her car, she was a corpse wrapped in a blanket in the trunk of her car.
4. Torment the victim’s parents
While it is distressing enough for a loved one to go missing, it is even more devastating to receive material in the mail suggesting that the missing person has been killed.
This is how Tsutomu Miyazaki tormented the families of Mari Konno and Erika Nanba. He sent the parents of the latter photos of their daughter’s clothes, pieces of teeth, ashes from her cremation and a postcard on which it was written: “Husband. Cremated. Bones. Investigate. Prove. For his third victim, he sent his parents a postcard that read, “Erika. Cold. Cough. Throat. Rest. Death.”
In both cases, he would have called the parents of his victim, but would not speak on the phone. If they refuse to talk, he will let the line ring for up to 20 minutes.
6. vampirism
As if killing and having carnal knowledge and burning his victims wasn’t enough, Tsutomu Miyazaki got even more extreme with his fourth victim. He kept his corpse in his apartment for two days, had sex with him and filmed himself. Afterwards, he dismembered the body as it began to decompose and dumped the trunk in a nearby cemetery while dumping the head elsewhere. For his hands, he did something more with it. Miyazaki sucked blood out of them and even ate some parts. Fearing that the other pieces he had would be discovered, he retrieved them and hid in his closet.
7. Wrongful arrest
At this point in performing his dastardly deeds, Nemesis was already catching up with Tsutomu Miyazaki. He was caught while chasing his fifth victim on July 23, 1989. The Japanese serial killer attempted to kidnap two sisters. He succeeded in one of them, while the other escaped and told his father what had just happened. The lucky man began frantically trying to find out about the events of the past few months for his missing daughter. Luckily, he caught Miyazaki naked in his car photographing his daughter’s genitals.
The Japanese serial killer wasted no time in escaping completely naked, but when he returned to his car, the police were on the ground to apprehend him. After his arrest and questioning, Tsutomu admitted responsibility for the loss and death of the four previously missing girls.
His trial lasted from 1990 to 1997 and the trial received a lot of media attention. However, Tsutomu Miyazaki never had any remorse for his crimes. Instead, he blamed the motive for his action as being inspired by a certain hybrid Rat Man who promised to bring his grandfather back to life.
As his trial dragged on, the humiliation became unbearable for his father, who committed suicide by jumping off a bridge in 1994. On the contrary, his supposed mother visited him weekly in prison with comic strips.
When he was sentenced to death on April 14, 1997, he appealed but his appeal was rejected. On June 17, 2008, Tsutomu Miyazaki, then 45 years old, was hanged to death.
